Our Instructors & Staff Members

Our Instructors have spent many years devoted to training in the art of Taekwondo, Hapkido and Shaolin Kung Fu and have attained a high level of expertise and training to qualify them as teachers and also mentors.

Through extensive testing, certification and tournament level competition, our staff has attained mastery in the traditional martial arts they teach and now enjoy sharing their skill and passing it on to their students.

 

Patrick Carey  (Head Instructor)

 
Senior Master Patrick Carey is the Head Instructor of the World Martial Arts Center. He holds a 6th Dan Black Belt in Taekwondo, a 5th Dan Black Belt in Hoshinsul Hapkido, a 4th Dan Black Belt in Taeguek Kumdo and a 1st Dan Black Sash in Shaolin Kung Fu. Senior Master Carey began practicing martial arts (judo) in 1979 and earned his 1st Dan black belt in Song Moo Kwan Taekwondo in 1983. Senior Master Carey holds a wide variety of certificates including being a Certified Master Instructor (graduated from the 17th Foreign Instructor Course) by the Kukkiwon and a 1st Class National Hanmadang Referee by the US Taekwondo Committee, a National Taekwondo sparring referee by the AAU and a Certified Head Instructor by the World Song Moo Kwan Association.

In his extensive martial arts practice over the past 30+ years Mr. Carey has studied under many instructors, most notably Grandmaster Moo Young Yun, Master Rich Johnson, Grandmaster Hee Ro and has also been accepted as a direct student of Shih Yan Gao, a 34th Generation Shaolin Monk.

Steven Wankewycz  (Co- Head Instructor) 


Master Steven Wankewycz is the Co-Head Instructor of the World Martial Arts Center. He holds a 5th Dan Black Sash in Shaolin Kung Fu, a 4th Dan Black Belt in Taekwondo, a 4th Dan Black Belt in Taeguek Kumdo and a 1st Dan Black Belt in Hapkido. Master Wankewycz is a Certified Master Instructor (graduated from the 17th Foreign Instructor Course) by the Kukkiwon and a Certified 1st Class National Hanmadang Referee also by the Kukkiwon. He is also a Certified Song Moo Kwan Head Instructor.

In addition to his studies under Grandmaster Hee Ro, Mr. Wankewycz has also been accepted as a direct student of Sifu Shih Yan Gao, a 34th Generation Shaolin Monk.

Leo Ramroop  (Taekwondo Grandmaster)
Grandmaster Leo Ramroop, 9th Dan Black Belt in Taekwondo, is an Instructor at the Main School, frequently teaching the Black Belt Taekwondo classes. Grandmaster Ramroop is a Certified Instructor.

 

Michael Stein  (Taekwondo Grandmaster)
Master Michael Stein holds an 8th Dan Black Belt in Taekwondo. Master Stein is a Taekwondo Instructor at the Main School, frequently teaching the Black Belt class, and is a Certified Instructor.

 

Lolly Saunders  (Assistant Instructor)
Mrs. Saunders is an Assistant Instructor at the Main School. She holds 2nd Dan Black Belt in Shaolin Kung Fu and a 1st Dan Black Belt in Taekwondo
